The conference is open to all high school students in Ontario!
Where is the conference held? When is it?
The conference will be held from Saturday May 12th to Sunday May 13th, 2018 at the University of Toronto's St. George Campus, right in the heart of Downtown Toronto. Some of the buildings which the delegates will be spending their time in are the Bahen Centre for Information and Technology, the Galbraith Building and the Sandford Fleming Building.
How much are tickets? What is included in the cost?
The tickets for SCYLC 2018 are $89.00 CAD for Overnight and $41.95 CAD for Non-Overnight. They cover your accommodation, meals, t-shirt and some of the cool swag you will get on the day of the conference! Registration for SCYLC 2018 is now open, click here to learn more!
Where will I be staying?
Delegates will be staying in single rooms in the New College Residence located at 40 Willcocks St, Toronto, ON. It'll give them an opportunity to see what residence life is like at U of T! This location is walking distance from all the buildings which delegates will be spending their time in during the conference. Meals will be provided. Can I still attend this conference if I'm not interested in Engineering or Medicine?
Of course you can! SCYLC 2018 is not geared towards any particular field. It is an opportunity for you to learn the basics of sparking social change and build on leadership skills. The skills you will build on at this conference will be helpful in whatever field you choose to pursue. Former delegates who have attended SCYLC have gone into a variety of different programs including engineering, medicine, music and the social sciences.
What are some of the activities that are held at the conference?
You will get to listen to and meet well-accomplished keynote speakers, complete a case study and go through a series of leadership activities revolving around our theme of bio-medicine and global health, which will help develop and build upon leadership, critical thinking and analysis skills.
What's the Ambassador Program?
The Ambassador Program is a way for you get some awesome perks while also helping us spread the word about SCYLC! By signing up, you get a chance to obtain cool U of T merchandise, an official EWB Ambassador Certificate (to boost your resume), and/or a Reference Letter from the SCYLC Executive Team (perfect for college/university and scholarship applications)!
